The difference between B2B and B2C in e-commerce

 

We start by clarifying the abbreviations, B2B is an abbreviation for Business to Business. B2C is short for Business to Consumer. Within B2B, the business transaction takes place between different companies. B2C is instead between a company and consumer.

Although the experience and design may look equivalent for these two.   • The webshop generally has a smaller percentage of the company's total marketing budget.

B2C 

  • Smaller order volume and amount. 
  • The purchase is made by an individual and the decision is influenced by other factors, e.g. an influencer, advertising or other individuals. 
  • Have a more product-related relationship. 
  • Unplanned impulse purchases and emotional decisions occur more often. 
  • Short sales cycle with quick closing (order process). 
  • The purchases usually have a short-term goal and with a personal satisfaction. 
  • Usually requires a larger portion of the marketing budget.
     

In conclusion, another important factor that is of great importance in e-commerce in general and that usually differs Oht are payment solutions and checkout processes. Where B2C customers historically have a simpler process with more flexible payment solutions, while B2B usually has a more time-consuming manual process.
