When Mickel, 23, from Stockholm, jumped on the eKompass train in September, a whole new world opened up for him as a system developer. With his IT background and an education from the Media Institute at KTH, he has already made an impression on the team.

From gaming to coding

Mickel has always loved computers, when he was little there were of course a lot of games. "And I've always liked creating and figuring out how things work. When a former colleague told me about eKompass, I was immediately curious," he says. The rest is history.

Real team spirit

It didn't take long for Mickel to feel at home. “It's like a big family here. Everyone supports each other, and ideas fly back and forth all the time. Our office in Östermalm is super cosy, but it works just as well when we drive remotely," he says.

His managers, Daniel and Göran, are also a big plus. “Daniel is great at giving quick feedback, and we have regular reconciliations that keep everything on track. And Goran? He is great at making one feel appreciated. Among other things, we have so-called "Success meetings" every month, to check how everything is going. "You can tell that they really care about us who work here," says Mickel with a smile.

New challenges, new tools

In just a few months, Mickel has thrown himself into the work, and often has to use techniques, systems and tools that are completely new to him. "Daniel pushes me to try new things, and it feels like I'm growing every day. Innovation is really part of the culture here,” he says. And yes, it is orderly. "We use Planner, Teams and Slack to keep track of the projects. Everything is so structured that you avoid the stress of not knowing what to do," he says.

What awaits around the corner?

The future looks bright for Mickel. "eKompass is growing, and I want to grow with them. To become a team leader one day? Absolutely!" he says with a twinkle in his eye. He likes that the company invests not only in technology but also in the well-being of its employees. "Here, it's as much about feeling good as it is about doing well at work."

A newly hatched star

So what is he most proud of so far? “When I solve a tricky project, especially something I've never done before. It's a really great feeling," says Mickel.

When asked if he would be able to articulate what he himself brings to the company, he is a little shy at first, but then says with a laugh - "I have a lot of energy and drive, so it's probably that and a new look, I'm the youngest after all ... ” And to those of you who are thinking of hanging on, he says: “Do you want to work with technology at the forefront, learn a lot and have fun along the way?
